Maniscalco Family Session || Humboldt Park, Chicago

I met the Maniscalcos at Tastee Freez, the best ice cream spot in Logan Square if you ask me. It was a lovely summer evening and I gave them my business card and asked them to contact me if they wanted some family portraits. Some people might find it quite odd for a perfect stranger to do such a thing, but I did it anyway and I'm so glad because I did get to officially meet them and take some family photos a few weeks later!

Even though we spent just a few hours together winding our way through Humboldt Park, I don't feel quite right about calling these lovely people strangers any longer. That seems to happen after I spend time with each of my clients; the line between client and friend becomes a bit more blurred, and that's a very good thing! The best photographs happen when you feel at ease, natural and comfortable. That's the moment you feel at your best, isn't it? And the way to let that happen when you find yourself in front of a camera is to find yourself trusting your photographer. The Maniscalcos did just that, and the images that came out of their end-of-summer photo session display the effortless beauty found in natural, un-posed moments. This family is a dream, and I think you'll agree.

And yes, ending a photoshoot at the best ice cream spot in the neighborhood was totally planned and totally worth it.

Sweet Nephew ● Oliver's 3 month pictures

I really really love to write.

But there are some times when words just add needless clutter. This post is one of those times.

Below are some photos I took to celebrate my sweet nephew's 3 months of life, and my heart just fills looking at these! Enjoy.

To Ollie: you are loved, so loved! Do you know it?! I won't ever let you forget.

To my sis: you are loved, so loved! Do you know it?! It has nothing to do with the size and shape of your mothering, nothing to do with the goodness or badness of the day. I won't ever let you forget.

Hugo turns ONE!! // Tipp City Child Photography

My little Hugo turned one a few weeks ago, and I did the dutiful thing any photographer mom should do... took too many pictures. :D

This little boy is something pretty special to his daddy and I - we thank our good God every day for him!

This next one cracks me up. I had envisioned this perfect picture of Hugo laughing as beautiful gold confetti drifted down around him. Not quite...but a priceless picture nonetheless!

HUGE props to my new favorite local Dayton shop where I found that gorgeous gold foil balloon. Confetti Card & Party is your one stop shop for the cutest cards and party decorations around! They also have a lovely little collection of vintage goods, from gorgeous vintage cards to these vintage blowers that Hugo is chewing on in the photo above. :) Go visit Briana at Confetti...PRONTO!
