Portraits

Emmi || Newton Class of 2016

Emmi had one wish for her senior portraits: that they be creative.

In case you didn't know, saying those magical words to a photographer is the same as a blank canvas yelling out, "paint me!" Needless to say, I was delighted. There were multiple times I asked Emmi to do things during her photo session that most people would have thought twice about, laughed, and asked if I was serious. But she took it all in stride (even when I asked her mom to throw sunflowers at her head), and I think the reason is because she's an artist herself. You know the saying it takes one to know one? Emmi didn't blink at some of my wild ideas because she knows that the creative process sometimes involves big ideas like flying sunflowers. And it worked.

But don't take my word for it - see for yourself. I think we made a great team!

Kaitlyn's Graduating || Newton High Ohio Senior Session

Kaitlyn loves to laugh. But I feel like that's just stating the obvious; it won't take long for you to see that for yourself! Kaitlyn has a fun-loving personality and is incredibly big-hearted. She's creative and funny and if you're fortunate enough to call Kaitlyn your friend, I think she's one-in-a-million.

Her only request for senior portraits was something creative and unlike the norm, and since that's my goal with every session, we made a great team. I think these images show Kaitlyn's true personality, her radiant inner beauty, and her love for life. Thanks for allowing me the privilege of documenting this important time in your life, Kaitlyn! I wish you the happiest last year of high school.

Kaitlyn is a graduating senior of the Newton Class of 2016 in West Milton, Ohio. We took her senior portraits on a sunny summer day at her home and various locations nearby. Styling was provided my both Kaitlyn, her mom, and myself to create this timeless vintage-inspired session with a hint of whimsy. I'd say it was a smashing success. :)

Oliver Turns One! || Dayton, OH Child Photography

I feel like I should tell you first-off that Oliver is my nephew. Perhaps the exclamations of how adorable he is and the unashamed use of '!!!' will be understood a little better. :)

My husband recently gave a description of Ollie's personality: "He's just a little joy bomb." And it's true! This precious boy is quick to smile, and it's a grin that lights up his whole face. And if you've ever been around a happy one-year-old, you know that their joy is infectious. Watch his smile slowly spread across his face, and notice that there's a grin growing on yours as well.

I was delighted to take some photos of Oliver a few weeks ago to commemorate his first year of life, and I have to say these images really did capture his personality. I'm so happy to know this little boy, and being his auntie is one of my top claims to fame! Just as I pray with my son every night before bed, I pray for you, Oliver Rafe: that you will grow to be strong in your muscles and strong in your heart.

So much love in my heart for these people. There just aren't adequate words.

Leave some love for them in the comments below, and you can see Oliver's Newborn Session here if you want to feel all sentimental with me about this boy growing up.
